The OWL database is a non-redundant composite of the major publicly-available primary sources: SWISS-PROT, PIR (1-3), GenBank (translation) and NRL-3D (sequence data).

Although strict redundancy criteria are applied to the amalgamation of the these databases, error checking of the sources themselves is not undertaken. In its current form, OWL thus includes errors that derive directly from its constituent sources.

The version of the database served here is out of date. For more current information, please visit the Leeds site directly.
